Throw like a Pro! Term 1, Sunday

Learn the basics on the pottery wheel from preparing clay, learning to center and glazing your pieces. This is a structured 6 week course, specifically targeted at learning at your pace, clay is not a medium to be rushed it takes time and lots of practice.  You will focus on correct skill development, this class is not about the quantity of pieces you come out with, we focus on quality and learning. You will have instruction from 2 experienced facilitators for the the first 2 classes to get everyone going, the 4 remaing classes will be with just one facilitator.

Return students will be finessing and extending their skills and will be given direction to extend on skills.

Initial 6 week block will focus on cylinders, cups/handles and bowls.

FIRING is not included, Bisque & glaze firing is charged at $12 per Kg on pickup of work.

New students will be focusing on 

Week 1 - 8th October -  Practice, practice, practice.  We do not keep anything made from this class.

Week 2 - 15th October - Cylinders and more cylinders, because we want to get it right.

Week 3 - 22nd October - Turning feet and adding handles

Week 4 - 29th October - Small bowls

Week 5 - 12th November - Turning bowls and some finessing of previous work

Week 6 - 19th November - Glazing

Returning Student's projects will extend in the following projects

Flatware

Lidded Vessels

Larger bowls/vessels/flatware

Teapots

You will pick 6-8 pieces per class to glaze and fire, we are conscious of our resources and will recycle clay pieces that dont make the cut, so you will need to choose.

With only 8 students per class it is perfect to hone your skills and get the basics right. 

PLEASE BOOK WISELY!  I will be unable to refund any cancellations, you can transfer your ticket to a friend.  To avoid disappointment please do not ask for a refund, please understand that a facilitator is being paid with other outgoings and numbers (your booked spot) is required to keep my little business afloat.

Your Obligations

You may need to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing rules that are in place at the time of classes.

You will need to thoroughly clean and sanitise your work station and any tools used.

You will be unable to enter if you are unwell.

You will need to bring in your own food and drinks for tea break.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Studio is located at Shed 4/39 Smithton Grove, Ocean Grove

Please park on Smithton Grove as the studio parking is not available.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Please bring a towel, apron, dust mask.

Comfortable clothing, closed shoes.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Please book wisely, cancellations will forfeit fee paid (classes a reliant on numbers to proceed) and if your spot can't be filled I cannot refund money paid.

If you are unable to attend a class we are unable to refund for the missed class, we are unable to offer makeup classes at this stage due to our restricted numbers in all our classes.
